Key and Building Security Policy

Policy: It is the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Treasure Coast’s responsibility to ensure easy and safe access to its facilities for all its users.
Purpose: To maintain a safe and secure environment, and to provide a procedure to borrow and return keys.
Procedure: Go to the church secretary and fill out a key request form.
Key Details:
- Church keys are the property of Unitarian Universalist Church of the Treasure Coast.
- Keys will be issued to Church staff, members, and also outside organizations whose work requires use of the building at times when it is
- Keys may be issued for a short term (one time event) or long term (open ended).
- Each key received requires a deposit of $5.00. Deposits will be returned when the key is returned. Key deposits may be waived on the first key issued to staff members, Board of Directors, and Operations Team
- All church keys are assigned to individuals. The person whose name appears on the key request form is responsible for their assigned keys and is the only authorized
- All keys must be returned upon request of the Operations Team.
- The church has X primary keys. (no. of keys TBD)
Key Responsibilities:
- Secretary and the Operations Team are responsible for the inventory of keys and maintenance of keys
- The Operations Team has the final say on key allotment
- To obtain a key, fill out the Key Request Form and return it to the church secretary
- The Church Secretary’s responsibilities:
- Issue keys to those persons who have filled out and signed the Key Request Form and have a reasonable need (apply common sense).
- Fill out our portion of Key Request
- Ensure that all unneeded keys are returned to the church
- Report all keys that have not been returned or are lost to Operations Team Chairperson.
- Keep a stock of keys and get marked duplicates (1, 2, 3, C) as
- Keep a file of outstanding keys (keep copy of completed forms)
- Create and maintain a computer file by key of all key holders
- Report issues to appropriate Teams
- Work on money handling procedures with Church
Building Details:
- The Church will be unlocked on Sundays from 10am to 1pm and staffed on Mondays-Fridays 9:00am-3:00pm.
- Church Administrator may opt to keep doors locked for safety concerns. There is a doorbell at the rear of Heston Hall and a doorbell at the entrance to the Narthex.
- Ensure all exterior doors are locked when the building will be empty.
- Thermostats are all programmed for the regular use of the building. Please do not tamper with them.
Bob came from upstate Troy, New York. He majored in history and philosophy at West Virginia Wesleyan College then majored in theology at Yale Divinity School. While in college and seminary, he worked small churches to support his young family. He did graduate work in intellectual history at Temple University and in theology at Drew University. He was ordained in the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 2006, he retired and a year later, discovered the TCUUC, where started the book club. In 2008, he began seven years of part-time ministry at the TCUUC then retired again and moved to Asheville, NC. A year later, Bob and his wife returned to the area, and the TCUUC.
